Woodland Mall hosting Black-owned business showcase

KENTWOOD, MI — Woodland Mall is hosting a Black-owned business showcase on Saturday, Aug. 14.

The event is expected to feature more than 20 businesses selling a variety of products, including fashion apparel, food, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, kitchen items, gifts, stationery and cards, financial planning, health and wellness items and more.

“In response to strong consumer demand, we are so pleased to offer this showcase for a second consecutive year,” Mikia Ross, interim senior marketing director for Woodland Mall, said in a statement.

“We appreciate the opportunity to open the mall’s doors to support Black-owned businesses serving our community. There will truly be something for everyone at this event, and we look forward to welcoming these entrepreneurs and their companies.”

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Businesses that wish to register as a vendor for the event can do so here.

Woodland Mall, which is owned by Pennsylvania-based PREIT, underwent a $100 million renovation that opened in fall 2019. Last month, officials announced that Phoenix Theatres plans to reopen the movie theater at the mall that Celebration Cinema closed last year.
